A wonderful late 18th century carved hardstone banded agate cameo depicting Eros and a butterfly.
The highly detailed composition is very reminicent of the work of Pichler who carved various cameo studies of Eros, though this piece is unsigned, it is certainly by the hand of a master engraver.
In later 18ct gold ring mount.
Height of cameo 22mm , not including the edge of the mount.
