Original goldleaf frame - Graham Sutherland and Francis Bacon used the same framing company which supplied these distinctive highly polished gilt frames.
Graham Sutherland painted this work in Pembrokeshire, an area which he first visited in 1934. After travelling and living in France during the 1950's, he returned to Pembrokeshire and became fascinated once again by the distinctive landscape of the area. His work from then on was mainly devoted to Pembrokeshire themes, particularly the areas of Sandy Haven and Picton.
