Bernard Myers studied for two years at St Martins School of Art and after in 1951 he went to the Royal Collage of Art , amongst  his contemporaries were John Bratby, David Smith,  Frank Auerbach and Leon Kossoff.  Myers went on to teach at the RCA  and in 1968 and 1971 was invited to India as visiting Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology,  New Delhi. His experience in India changed the style of his art this was reflected in a series of vibrant pastel paintings exhibited in New Delhi and London in the early 1970's.

He continued to combine teaching and painting until 1985 when he retired, He had a Thames side studio in Hammersmith, London where he  painted mainly still life in pastel shades and developed his thick impasto oil technique.

He exhibited at the New Art Centre and New Grafton Gallery, the last show there was in 2006.

His work is in the collections of the Tate,  The Arts Council and Government Art Collection amongst others.
