A fine quality engraved carnelian intaglio ring. The carving depicts Ganymede riding an eagle, the eagle is Zeus in disguise who befriends Ganymede, kidnaps him and takes him to Mount Olympus.
The stone dates from the last quarter of the 18th century and is mounted in an 18ct gold later setting.
