About Georg Jensen Jewellery
Georg Jensen's handcrafted jewellery is considered to be among the most beautiful silver art ever made. Pieces so timeless that they are just as vibrant and contemporary today as when he first designed them. They express the best of Scandinavian design: simplicity, clarity and precision, combined with that careful sense of design which makes an object a pleasure to wear and use.
Georg Jensen was born in Denmark in 1866 and trained as a sculptor and a silversmith. In 1904, he opened his first silversmithy in Copenhagen. He died in 1935, but in the preceding years he imbued the firm with his strongly held ideals concerning both artistry in design and excellence in craftsmanship and this tradition has been adhered to throughout the twentieth century.
The original, unique styles have been complimented over the years by the careful introduction of new designs from a long line of internationally acclaimed designers at Georg Jensen who have carried on his work. Each designer has his or her own unique artistic expression, but all share the same love and respect of the craft. Each piece is a unique expression of the passion of the designers for beautiful design, superior craftsmanship and the highest level of artistic quality. These include Henning Koppel, Regitze Overgaard and Vivianna Torun.
